Taraire Block Winery
Grapes have been grown on this site since the 1960s with the first commercial harvest late that decade. Various varietals have been grown over the years, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Siebel, Palermino, Baco 22a and Sauvignon Blanc currently planted.
The winery is named after the native tree that was once found all over Northland it is also the name given to the area when it was first settled. Our logo represents the Kereru, the only bird capable of spreading the Taraire seeds.
Our current offerings include a sparkling white, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc blend, Beaujolais style red, Cabernet Sauvignon, port and sherry.
In addition to wines and fortified wines we also have Red Wine Vinegar, Sherry Vinegar and chilli Sherry.
Tastings available for small and large groups. Bookings are recommend for groups over five persons. The winery is available for special events and occasions.
